We're here because we're here!

Beyond the rutted road, past weather beaten, misspelled name arrows, and through a sudden mist of mosquitoes, we find our way once again to Echo Cottage.
Today, we take a moment to marvel at all Nana, Millie and Annette did for the cottage and for us, and then acknowledge that, though we don't like it, we must proceed into the new millennium without them.
In order to keep the cottage in shape without destroying ourselves in the process, we must create new practices and processes for the future.
We hereby dedicate ourselves to sharing the load, and making running the cottage easy for everybody, so we can all enjoy the beauty of the place and skip the hassle.
Meanwhile, let's relax, drink in the sunset, and meditate on how very lucky we are to have such a wonderful place for our families and friends. Let's stop a moment and think of Nana -- her vision for all of us is coming true. Become one with the lake.
We wanted a place where we could get together when we can't get together. A place to talk about how much fun we had last summer and how much fun we will have again next summer. A place to share our pictures and maybe some other stuff, too. Like, we could share favorite movies, books, TV shows and maybe even recipes (I have about three recipes, but they are GREAT).
Especially, we needed a place to do our planning.
There's no denying it; Its hard to run a cottage. Especially one that is shared among so many diverse and scattered people as we. We vow to make this cottage work for all of us. If it's not working for you, you will have a chance to let us all know - you can bring up stuff that's not working in the bulletin board.
I will try to figure out how to let you enter your own words and pictures into the web pages. Until we manage that, you can send them to me and I'll put them up here.
So sit back, listen to the loons and relax. For the next few minutes, you are back in Merrymount.
